Course Overview
The OHCA 40-hour Administrator Training Program offers a unique opportunity to learn about best practices from a variety of respected consultants and community-based care professionals. This training program is designed to balance information, resource materials, and interactive exercises. This course will prepare you to develop services and procedures that reflect community-based care values and comply with licensing rules. This course is intended to meet the training requirement of OAR 853-035-0000 (6). Following successful completion of this course, attendees will receive a certificate showing compliance with the training requirements to include in the licensure application documents.
40-Hour ALF/RCF Administrator Training Program
This course is currently being offered virtually to provide accessible training to people statewide. Once you have registered for the course, you’ll immediately receive a confirmation email containing login information and password-protected links to the resource and materials handbooks, as well as a reminder email a week and an hour prior to the class. Please check your junk email folder if you do not receive an email. All course materials are being delivered to attendees virtually. Physical printed copies of course materials are available for an additional charge, and can be requested during the registration process.
To complete the virtual 40-hour administrator training course, attendees must complete the following items:
- Attend all live virtual instruction days. Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. ( approx. 27.5 hours)
- Online learning modules through Oregon Care Partners (approx. 9.5 hours)
- Study guide (approx. 3 hours) due before Friday’s class

Next Steps: Apply for Residential Care Administrator Licensure Through Oregon Health Authority (OHA)
Residential Care Administrators are licensed through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). Once you successfully complete the course requirements, you will receive a certificate of completion. This is NOT a license. In order to become a licensed ALF/RCF Administrator, you will have to complete the following requirements:
- Take and pass the licensure exam.

- Submit your licensure application.
- Include all the items listed on page 4 of the application, including a check for ALL required fees or your application will be returned to you as incomplete.
